Tesla is voluntarily recalling Model S and Model X vehicles made between February 2016 and October 2016. According to the company, the “abundance of caution” recall is for a potential manufacturing issue in which the parking brake, once engaged, might experience a fractured internal gear that results in it being stuck in the ‘on’ position; however while Telsa down-played the real-life safety risks, it did say that customers were getting alerts which were eventually traced back to a batch of brakes from supplier Brembo during the roughly ten month period.
