Date: Saturday, August 9, 2025
Location: Evergreen Speedway, Monroe, WA
Event: Formula DRIFT PRO Championship Round 6: Throwdown

RESULTS FOR FD PRO ROUND 3

  1. Matt Field (USA) – Borla Performance / GT Radial / Heat Wave Visual / Leen Customs / Drift Cave Motorsports Corvette
  2. James Deane (Ireland) – AutoZone Mustang RTR Spec 5-FD
  3. LZ (USA) – Drift HQ E36 BMW

NOTES

  • After 20 years competing at Evergreen Speedway, Formula DRIFT widened the course through Outer Zones 2 and 3, allowing drivers to draw a smoother arc, maintaining momentum and improving the spectacle. Following Friday practice and Seeding Bracket, more changes were made overnight to refine the transition and bring the finish line slightly closer
  • Matt Field and James Deane have previously met five times in Competition and the Irishman had won on every occasion until now. Field returned to the top step of the podium for the first time since the Long Beach opening round in 2023. He would subsequently place second in the 2023 FD PRO Championship for the third year in a row
  • Field’s win came after an intense battle that saw Deane slide into the side of the Corvette, punting it off course. The judges observed that Field had stayed on the throttle and wasn’t to blame, earning him the victory
  • The 50-point haul for winning each Competition heat moved Field from fifth to third in the title race, while Deane’s second place finish bumped him into the lead of the 2025 FD PRO Championship following the early retirement of rival Fredric Aasbo (Norway)
  • Two of the biggest surprises in Seattle were title contenders Aasbo – sitting equal-first – and Aurimas Bakchis (Lithuania) – in sixth – getting knocked out of the Top 32 along with Rookie Jack Shanahan (Ireland) – who had placed second in Round 5. As a result, Aasbo slid to second (30 points behind), Bakchis to seventh, while Shanahan slumped from eighth to 11th. Despite the tumble, the Irishman continues to hold a commanding lead in the 2025 Rookie title race
  • Meanwhile, LZ – who held a strong third place coming into Round 6 – maintained his momentum after also finishing third in Round 1 and winning Round 5. He remains equal-third with Field
  • Jhonnattan Castro (Dominican Republic) finished fourth in the Metaldom Toyota GR86 as he continues to have the best season of his career. The result elevated him from seventh to sixth
  • In the 2025 Formula DRIFT Auto Cup, BMW passed Toyota for the first time to narrowly lead the standings, while GT Radial further extended its lead in the Tire Cup
